By Annie Shelton

With so many beaches to choose from when you want to spend a holiday vacation in Mexico, how to decide becomes the question. Many are exotic and preferred by tourists; however, I can assure you that all of them are refreshing, beautiful and relaxing. Cancun and the Yucatan have some of the best beaches in the country as well as the most beautiful. With white sand and crystal clear waters, these beaches are incredible. You can see the bottom of the sea for miles, which is incredible. Some of these popular and favorite beaches by lots of vacationers are listed below.

Cancun is a long beach that is covered with white sand, surrounded by crystal clear waters, and has the most amazing sights to experience. This beach is one of the most popular and is a favorite for many families. If you wonder what it is like to be in a paradise, this trip will not disappoint you even a bit. Just imagine relaxing out on the sand while sipping some of the most delicious tropical drinks they serve. This beach is also the perfect place to bring your children. You can go diving and see a sea of colorful fish and coral reefs in the Caribbean. There is a Cancun International Airport to serve you better in transportation. It operates flights to North America, Central America, South America, Asia and Europe. It is situated in the northeast of the Yucatan Peninsula. Aside from that, the airport is just around 12 miles from the hotel zone, around 20 minutes travel by car. Additionally, you can also use public transit bus system that is servicing the hotel zone.

Isla Mujeres - This beach very quiet and relaxing, everything is very simple, giving you a feeling as if you actually live here. Trade in the big resorts as there are none here and instead enjoy small town beach life. You and your family can find a few hostels to stay, and this place can be much cheaper than Cancun. The transportation in Isla Mujeres is either by taxi or golf carts and moped scooters. But you can also choose a bus service that serves from the downtown area to other nearby neighborhoods. If you are keener with adventure, you can also choose to rent a bike instead.

Cozumel - This place does not have many beaches. It is popular and admired for its calm waters and unique aquarium like waters. You can literally see thousands of fish that swim in water and it's a spectacular sight. Scuba diving and fishing charters are its main sources of income. There are over 90 restaurants on the island that serve international and local cuisines and lots of hotels, most of them run dive operations, they also have swimming pools and private docks. Aside from scuba diving, some activities that you'll surely enjoy too are para-sailing, kite surfing, the tourist submarine and the two dolphinariums.

Playa del Carmen - This place is a combination of small towns but with larger accommodation. You are next to a beautiful beach with lots of all-inclusive deals. There are many restaurants and clubs for nightlife. This place is ideal for young adults who love to party. Tourist activities are concentrated in Playa del Carmen, Quinta Avenida, or Fifth Avenue, which extends up to Calle 1 Norte to Calle 40. A pedestrian walkway located just one or two blocks away from the beach. Fifth Avenue is lined with hundreds of shops, bars and restaurants. There are many small boutique hotels on Fifth Avenue and just right on the beach is the Blue Moon Hotel and Bar, Fusion Beach Bar & Grill, Deseo, Basico, House Ticul, Barrio Latino, La Tortuga and many more.

Tulum - This beach is surrounded by small hotels. There are no big resorts and accommodation are often small inns. The archaeological site of Tulum is relatively small compared to many other Mayan sites in the vicinity, and is one of the best preserved coastal Mayan sites. Its proximity to the modern tourism developments along the Caribbean coast of Mexico and a short drive from Cancun has made it as one of the most popular tourist sites in the Yucatan Maya. Daily tour buses bring a steady stream of visitors. Tulum ruins are the third most popular archaeological site in Mexico, after Teotihuacan and Chichen Itza. It is a picturesque view of the popular Caribbean and lies just 128 km (80 miles) south of the seaside resort of Cancun.
